Haleakala, Maui's volcanic crater, soars above the clouds, tickles the sky. The summit, an hour or so before twilight, is a magical place when clouds wisp into the ancient caldera, the sun still lights the crater's floor, casting long shadows. On the lip of the volcanic crater, I was awestruck by the number of smaller, multi-colored volcanic craters rising from the caldera floor. Volcanos within a volcano ~ It felt as though I were standing on the edge of creation.
